Despite there being a transmitter located in Oxford, there are a few areas where reception isn't as strong as it is elsewhere, due to the geography of the area and a couple of larger buildings blocking the signal. Areas that have signal issues are parts of Blackbird Leys, Divinity Road, Jack Straw's Lane, Harburton Mead and Morrell Avenue. However, the majority of the Oxford area has a very strong signal and in some cases issues with picture quality are caused by the strength of this signal and a dampener may help improve the situation. Switchover to digital is also causing temporary problems for some households and businesses. Some people will find their aerials aren't receiving all the channels they used. The situation needn't be confusing, but even the official Digital switchover site may seem overly complicated. Our Oxford aerial installation technicians have an excellent knowledge of the area and will be able to give you the correct advice on whether you require a new aerial installation, dampener, or a simple re-tune for your existing aerial.
Digital switchover will not affect your Freeview or Sky installation, but there are other issues that will affect picture quality. A faulty scart will cause imperfections, as will incorrect positioning. If you have a problem, or are considering changing from aerials to satellite, our dedicated team of Sky installation technicians will be able to advise on the best way for you to get the most of either the free service or the subscription packages available.
